RESEARCH Interests |
Librarianship/Information Studies being the last bastion for the generalist. This is a very broad area to specialize in. Information Studies research allows me to not only explore, but to pursue more than one research area of interest. As the librarian for History, Spanish, Ethnic Studies ,and the Transborder Institute at USD I feel fortunate to have a plethora of subjects to keep my research interests piqued for many years to come. All of the research I am engaged in connects to my areas of collection management responsibility or are continuations of my graduate school research. |
Library and Information Studies:
|
| Thus far, I have been able to write three papers on the topics of Collection Development in Atlanta, GA and Archives in Libraries in Havana, Cuba in the past two years. At the moment, I am co-authoring with an Information Studies professor at UCLA an article about National Library Associations and their efforts to serve their contituents. I will continue to give presentations on Virutal Reference and on Archives in Libraries in the coming years. |
Latin American Studies:
|
| Currently, I am working on a paper on Brazilian historical geography and exploring other possibilities to present at the SALALM gathering in 2006. |
| PERSONAL Research Interests: |
Romance Languages:
|
| Language evolution and convergence research with possibility of furthering studies in these areas. |
Peace, Conflict Resolution, and Justice
