Course Description:

This course is a practicum in Anthropological Writing.

The course prerequisite is Anthropology 10, 20, or 30 (Undergraduate Bulletin 2002-2004: 66).   Anyone without one of these courses will be dropped from the roster.

 

In the course we will attempt to cover the following topics:

Language as culture

Scientific articles

Popular articles

Abstracts**

Grant applications

Reviews (including peer): grants, books, articles, films, exhibitions, etc.

Exhibition labels

Letter of application

Letter of recommendation (Letter of support)

Statements of purpose (as in graduate school applications)

Examinations

Curriculum vitae (CV) & resume

Digital Photography

Power Point

Adobe Photoshop

Slide & Flatbed scanning

 

Course requirements:

#1 Attendance is mandatory  (unexcused absences will lower your grade)

#2 An email account

#3 Courtesy.  This includes turning off all cell phones & pagers while in class

Grades:  Based on attendance & product quality
