CEC MISSION

The international Council for Exceptional Children was established over 75 years ago by teachers and psychologists who worked with individuals with special needs. The organization, with worldwide membership, is dedicated to advocacy, research, information dissemination and professional development of those who work with individuals with special needs across the life spectrum.

Along with membership, individuals receive the journals Exceptional Children, Teaching Exceptional Children and CEC Today. The organization also sponsors a spring international conference, learning academies for professionals and a broad sprectrum of national and local groups for educators.

The California Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children is one of the largest federations within the organization. Besides putting on a yearly statewide conference, CSF/CEC publishes The Journal and has local professional and student chapters.

will be celebrating its 76th anniversary in 1998! The Annual Conference will take place in Minneapolis.
