Professor Dominguez' classes

I currently teach three political science classes at the University of San Diego: Introduction to American Politics, The American Presiedency, and Campaigns, Elections, and Parties. Please take a look at the websites for those courses below. Available on this site are syllabi, assignments, grading rubrics, some handouts, and lecture powerpoints.

Political Science 125: Introduction to American Politics introduces students to the U.S. Constitution, national political institutions, and the ways that individuals and groups acquire and use political information.

American Presidency PS 310 is an upper division class specifically focusing on the American Presidency. The course examines how the president and other actors in the political system create, expand, and constrain what constitutes legitimate presidential authority, and how the boundaries of presidential power have changed over time.

Campaigns, Elections and PartiesThis upper division class examines and evaluates how well elections serve as a mechanism for democratic accountability. It examines the roles that institutions, political parties, organized interests, voters, the media, and political elites play in shaping the processes and outcomes of elections. Its main emphasis is on American federal elections, but also considers elections in a comparative context and sub-national elections in the United States.
