  Dr Gail E. Evans
Visiting Professor University of San Diego School of Law

Dr Evans teaches International Law, International Business Law, Intellectual Property and Contract Law at Southern Cross University, Australia. As Visiting Professor, Boston University School of Law, Spring Semester 2001, she taught International Intellectual Property. During the 2001-2002 academic year, Dr Evans will be teaching Introduction to Intellectual Property, International Intellectual Property and Cyberlaw at the University of San Diego School of Law.

She was awarded a doctorate in law from the University of Sydney for her work on the emerging constitutionalism of the World Trade Organization.

The thesis, entitled "Lawmaking under the Trade Constitution: A Study in Legislating by the World Trade Organization," was published in 2000 by Kluwer Law International.
 
Dr Evans' research interests are in the fields of International Law, Intellectual Property and Information Law. She has written extensively on the conjunction of international trade and intellectual property as well as the licensing of computer information and the social impact of computer software on the regulation of information society. Some of her recent publications include: "Comment on the Second WIPO Internet Domain Name Process", European Intellectual Property Review (2001) 1; "A Preliminary Excursion into TRIPS and Non-Violation Complaints" (2000) 6 (3) Journal of World Intellectual Property, 867; "Commentary on the Draft Hague Convention on Jurisdiction and Foreign Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters", Proceedings of the Seventh Annual Fordham International Intellectual Property Conference, Juris Publishing Inc, New York, 2001; "Opportunity Costs of Globalizing Information Licenses" (1999) X (1) Fordham University Journal of Intellectual Property, Arts and Entertainment Law 267 and; "TRIPS and the Sufficiency of the Free Trade Principles", (1999) 2 Journal of World Intellectual Property, 707.
 
With respect to professional activities, Dr Evans is the founder of the Center for Digital Millennium Law at Southern Cross University Law School and Director of the Australasian Intellectual Property Conference. She is a regular commentator at the Annual Fordham Conference in International Intellectual Property Law & Policy, New York City, and convened the first Roundtable on Transnational Lawmaking at Fordham University Law School in April 2000.
 
Dr Evans' work in progress includes a volume of collected essays entitled Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Age; and a textbook entitled Legal Problems in the Transnational Regulation of Intellectual Property.
