Assistant Professor

Department of Environmental and Ocean Sciences

University of San Diego

My research interests include problems in marine ecology at the interface of biology, physics, and mathematics, particularly relating to planktonic ecosystems. My research combines mathematical modeling with experimental approaches and field work. Current projects include studying the effects of turbulence on the formation of marine snow and its implications for carbon cycling. Read more about current and past research here.

Information on the courses I teach can be found here.

I am also the regional coordinator for the San Diego regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (the Garibaldi Bowl). Find more information on the NOSB Garibaldi Bowl here.
