Overview: Spring 2007

Astronomy courses will be presented in PowerPoint.  Some of the charts will be in Copley Library Reserves (hardcopy), and Bookstore. The plan is to offer these courses in WebCT (where almost all the charts will be listed). To access WebCT courses, visit: http://homer.sandiego.edu/webct/public/home.pl In order to access the materials you will need your USD user name and password then click on myWebCT.  (This will not work until the roster is loaded, usually the first day of class). Do NOT click on create WebCT.  This does NOT work. If you have problems accessing WebCT, check with Academic Computing Serra 205.

Astronomy Lec/Lab PHYS117
Astronomy Lec/Lab PHYS117 for Spring 2007) has two evening astronomy classes. There are also Lecture only PHYS107 that meet on TuTh 10:45-12:05 and 4-5:20PM. The P117 Lecture/Lab class will require the completion of at least 4 of the 7 labs assigned. Enrollment in the 107 class will be limited by the size of the room (probably 36 to 40), but the Lecture/Lab course size will be limited by our facilities and equipment (20 at present).

The content of the courses will be

PHYS107 10:45 AM Solar System

PHYS107 4:00 PM  Deep Sky

PHYS117 Tu 6-9 Solar System

PHYS117 Th 6-9 Deep Sky
Summer 2007 there will likely be a TuTh 6:45-10:15PM PHYS117 during the mid (6 week) session.  Summer is a great time for astronomy labs!   Fall 2007 schedule will be similar, except I will not be teaching the morning P107..

DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE EFFECTS OF WEATHER, AND PERSONAL TRAVEL, IN ALL CASES, INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN CLASS, SUPERCEDE POSTINGS HERE AND IN WEBCT, UNLESS THOSE POSTINGS STATE OTHERWISE.  IN OTHER WORDS, THE LATEST INFO COMES FROM THE INSTRUCTOR , AND SUPERCEDES POSTINGS.  IF THERE IS A CONTRADICTION, BRING IT TO THE ATTENTION OF YOUR INSTRUCTOR.  HE WILL THEN MAKE BEST EFFORT TO KEEP THE POSTINGS HERE AND IN WEBCT CURRENT, AND CONSISTENT.
