James T. Perry is
a Professor of Information Systems at the University of San Diego School
of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from The Pennsylvania
State University and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Purdue University.
He is the author of over 80 textbooks and trade books covering topics including
database management systems, the Internet, Building Accounting Systems,
Oracle, electronic commerce, Excel, Access, Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Internet
Explorer, Oracle, SQL Server, and Visual Basic for Applications. Some of his books have been
translated into Chinese, Dutch, French, Korean, and Russian. He has published over
a dozen articles on computer security, database management systems, multimedia
delivery systems, and chief programmer teams. Jim is a charter member of
the Association for Information Systems.
Jim's prior
teaching appointments include the Informations Systems Department at San
Diego State University and the Computer Science Department at the University
of Nebraska, Lincoln. He has also worked as a computer security consultant
to various private and governmental organizations including the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory. He was a consultant on the Strategic Defense Initiative ("Star
Wars") project and served as a member of the computer security oversight
committee.
