Author: Alexander Nequam (b. 1157, d. 1217)

Dating: Alexander studied in Paris and taught the arts there c. 1175-82. he returned to England and was lecturing in Oxford by 1190. He entered the Augustinian abbey of Cirencester between 1197 and 1202. He was elected abbot of Circencester in 1213 and attended the Fourth Lateran Council in 1215. Alexander died in 1217.
