Author: Alexander of Hales O.F.M. (b. c. 1185, d. 1245)Paris before 1210 - 1245.
Dating: Alexander studied in Paris from before 1210. From c. 1225 until his death, he was a master of theology at Paris. In 1236/7, he joined the Franciscan order, thus giving the Franciscans their first chair in theology at Paris. Alexander relinquished his chair to John of La Rochelle in 1241. The Summa Alexandri, attributed to Alexander, is a compilation put together by his students after his death.
