Author: John of La Rochelle (de Rupella) O.F.M. ( d.1245)Paris before 1238 - 1245

Dating: The first reference to John already speaks of him as master of theology and friar in Paris in 1238. He worked closely with Alexander of Hales as his student and their works are closed linked. He wrote a commentary on the Rule of St. Francis and almost certainly wrote book one (on God) and book three (on the incarnation and passion) of the Summa Alexandri. He was also well known as a preacher.

Works: Manuscripts given in Prolegomena to Summa Alexandri, vol. 4 (1948), pp. 211-27.
