Author: John of St. Gilles, O.P.Paris, Toulouse, 1228-35

Dating: According to Kaeppeli, John was professor medicine at Montpellier until 1209 when he became physician to Philip II, king of France (1209 - 1233). He was master of theology at Paris by 1228 and there he joined the Dominicans in 1230. He taught theology either at Paris or Toulouse. He returned to England in 1235 where he was a friend to the Royal court and to Bishop Robert Grosseteste. He died after 1258.
