Opportunities for Students

I am currently looking for students! Through an external grant, I have funding for two students for the summer of 2007. Also, there is the SURE program at USD that allows you to get money for housing, but the deadline is very early in the spring. Come talk to me about some possibilities! I have a wide range of types of projects I can offer, and we can work to find something that suits you best. I do a lot of instrumentation development, so you mechanical engineers out there are more than welcome to join in the fun. In a nutshell, I work in the field of micro- and nano-magnetism. I am developing a novel technique that will allow for measurements to be made on magnets that are too small for conventional techniques. In my lab, you can learn about vacuum technology, fiber optic interferometry, micromechanical cantilevers, and lots of other fun stuff. Send me an Email or just stop by my office. Tell your friends!
