HOMEWORK #9: Due Tuesday, October 6th:

Homework is due on my desk before class begins.

Reading Assignment:

Read:          * Read Chapter 4 in the book to remind yourself of some of the basic ideas.

Reading Questions:

·        What is a rational number?  Give examples of rational numbers and of numbers that are not rational.

·        What would you do to check if a number is a rational number?

·        What is the absolute value of a number?

·        How would you explain what is the absolute value of x is?

·        What is different in chapter 4, lesson 5 from previous sections on graphing functions?

·        Write some comments and questions on these sections.

 

Homework Assignment:

·     Please write on the top right-hand of your homework how long you spent on this homework—writing your pen-pal letter, reading and solving problems.

·     Do the following exercises:

pp.106-108, #3,4,5,7,8,9;

The following are exercises to help you review working with integers.  You may want to use the models we discussed in class as necessary.

p.113, #12,17;

pp.119-120, #13,14,15;

p.124,#9; p.128, #10; p.133, #13; p.137, #10; p.142, #12.

p.147, #1,2,3

·      Note that homework will not be collected on Tuesday.  It will be collected on Thursday before the test begins so that you have it to study.
