HOMEWORK #15: Due Tuesday, October 27th: To be turned in on Thursday

Homework is due on my desk before class begins.

Reading Assignment:

Read:          * Read chapter 8 in the book to remind yourself of some of the basic ideas.

Reading Questions:

·        What is scientific notation?  Why is it useful? Try some examples of using scientific notation.

·        What are some rules for exponents for positive integers?  Why do they make sense?

·        What does a 0 exponent do? Why does that make sense?

·        What does a negative exponent do?  Why does that make sense?

·        What is an exponential function?  Give a couple examples of situations that can be modeled using an exponential function.

·        Write some comments and questions on these sections.

 

Homework Assignment:

·     Please write on the top right-hand of your homework how long you spent on this homework—writing your pen-pal letter, reading and solving problems.
