Reading and Homework Assignments

Week 13


Come by office hours by Monday, November 26th to get final approval for your activity.

Be ready to share your family math night activity with others.

 

HOMEWORK #11: Due Tuesday, November 27th:

Reading Assignment:

·        Read section 5.2 of the textbook.

Reading Questions:

·        What does it mean for a number to be divisible by another number?

·        What is a factor?  What is a multiple?

·        If A and B are divisible by k, what do we know about A+B?

·        If A+B is divisible by k, what can we say about A? About B?

·        Remind yourself (or learn) the divisibility tests for 2,3,4,5,8,9,10,11.  Prove some of these tests algebraically for three digit numbers.

·        Write some comments and questions on these sections.

Homework Assignment:

·        Please write on the top right-hand of your homework how long you spent on this homework.

·        Start Homework set 20 #1acfg, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

·        Come by to discuss your Family Math Night activity.

 

Dates coming up:

·                    Family Math Night sharing—last 40 minutes of class: Tuesday, November 27th.

·                    Family Math Night: Wednesday, November 28th, 5:00pm-8:00pm at Longfellow School.

·                    Oral component of Exam #2: December 3rd - 7th.
