EC Homework 20 points-

Option I - Complete each question in this handout - Typed. No group work (even though this was created for group work) and submit the day of the final exam. Be VERY BIOCHEMICAL in your answer MECHANISM focused answers will get the highest grades. Diabetes Problem Set

Option II - Create a detailed outline complete with learning objectives for one of the following chapters 18, 19, 20 or 21. IF you chose this you must meet with the instructor to get the full requirements.

FINAL EXAM -

Most of the exam will be the new material. ~20% of the exam will be cumulative. This includes the following potential information:

- amino acids - recognize key characteristics

- proteins - structure and function of peptide bond and folding

- carbohydrates - definition of and characterization of simple and complex carbos. Including glycosidic bonds, chemical diversity of carbos and the biochemical examples of complex carbohydrates

- pH and buffer - expect one of the questions on buffers with a reaction that generates some acid or base and a new pH of the solution is calculated

- Lipids - basic structure and function
